Privacy Policy

The short version
Remoto doesn't collect, store, or transmit any of your personal data. The app runs entirely on your devices with no external servers involved. We don't have accounts, analytics, or tracking of any kind.
What data does Remoto access?
Remoto facilitates communication between your iPhone and your Mac. Here's what the app accesses:
- •Messages you send: Text and voice messages you send through Remoto are transmitted directly from your iPhone to your Mac over an encrypted connection. These messages are never sent to our servers because we don't have any.
- •AI responses: Responses from the AI assistant on your Mac are transmitted back to your iPhone. Again, this is direct device-to-device communication.
- •Connection data: When you scan a QR code to connect, the connection information (IP address, port, authentication token) is stored locally on your iPhone to maintain the connection. This data never leaves your devices.
- •Microphone (optional): If you use voice input, the iPhone app accesses your microphone. Voice data is processed on-device using Apple's speech recognition and is never sent to external servers.
What data do we collect?
None. We do not collect any data. We don't have servers, databases, or any infrastructure to store your information. We don't use analytics services, crash reporting tools, or any third-party SDKs that collect data.
How does the connection work?
Remoto connects your iPhone to your Mac in two ways:
- •Local network: When both devices are on the same Wi-Fi network, they communicate directly over your local network.
- •Tunnel (remote access): When you're away from home, Remoto can use a tunnel service to establish a connection. The tunnel only routes encrypted traffic between your devices — it cannot read or store your messages.
Third-party services
Remoto itself doesn't use any third-party services. However:
- •AI assistants: The AI assistants you control (like Claude) have their own privacy policies. Remoto simply acts as a remote interface — your conversations with the AI are subject to the AI provider's terms.
- •Apple services: Voice input uses Apple's on-device speech recognition. Apple's privacy policy applies to this feature.
Data storage
All data is stored locally on your devices. Connection settings are stored in the iPhone app's secure storage. Conversation history remains on your Mac within the AI application you're using. We have no access to any of this data.
Children's privacy
Remoto does not collect any data from anyone, including children. Since we don't collect data, there are no special provisions needed for children's privacy.
Changes to this policy
If we ever change this privacy policy, we'll update this page and the "last updated" date above. Since we don't collect data, we don't have a way to notify you directly — please check back periodically if you're concerned about changes.
